Heavily Rumored ‘iSlate’ Expeted to be Announced Jan. 27

January 18, 2010 Headlines, music, tech 2 Comments

Various tech blogs and news sources are reporting that invitations for an event to be held by Apple at Yerba Buena center on January 27, 2010 will possibly announce the iSlate. The rumor mill has been spinning out of control on the uber-secret Apple tablet PC product. If the iSlate is in fact real this could be a significant game changer in the tablet PC and digital reader markets ( a la Amazon’s Kindle ). iTunes would see the sale of full albums increase due to the ability for the iSlate to display multimedia extras bundled in full album purchases only. Also the possibility of this devices reading capabilities is fairly exciting as well. While the Kindle can download and display books and magazines look for Apple to take those capabilities to a whole other level—in color! ( image unconfirmed )

Official announcement possibly Jan 27th, 2010

Create Your Own Font

Create Your Own Font

If you like to create handwritten fonts or cool vectorized dingbats you should check out YourFonts. This site uses magic ( complex code created by web app wizards ) to take your handwriting and create a font just for you. Since Valentines day is coming up what would be better than telling the one you love how much you care with a personalized message displaying a font YOU made just for that special someone! Sites like Zazzle let users create their products ( coffee mugs, t-shirts, hats etc…) and sell them to the masses—or create a one of-a-kind for the one you love. Once you are done you can even post them to AbstractFonts. (and while you are at it, donate to their site as well, its good karma ) which allows you to download user created fonts for free. These are both great resources for designers who like to take full control of their design projects.  Its fun and FREE ( you don’t see that too often nowadays). From the moment I downloaded the template, to hand-drawing the glyphs in illustrator, uploading the revised template, and then downloading my new font took approximately 30 minutes.  Here is one I created just for kicks.

Zazzle is the site that allows individuals to create their own designs and put them on various products. While that platform is great for the general public, there is an alternative within Zazzle that showcases some of the worlds best artist and designers. Artprojekt is the finely curated section of the site where you will find this design and more amazing work there. Nathan Spoor’s paintings involve images of transition and growth in a world rich with the mystery, joy, pain, and delicate balance of personal and spiritual evolution. Suddenly is a painting about stages of evolution and adventurous discovery. Nathan currently resides in Los Angeles and exhibits his work in galleries around the world. His work is a must see.
