Heavily Rumored ‘iSlate’ Expeted to be Announced Jan. 27

January 18, 2010 Headlines, music, tech Comments Off

Various tech blogs and news sources are reporting that invitations for an event to be held by Apple at Yerba Buena center on January 27, 2010 will possibly announce the iSlate. The rumor mill has been spinning out of control on the uber-secret Apple tablet PC product. If the iSlate is in fact real this could be a significant game changer in the tablet PC and digital reader markets ( a la Amazon’s Kindle ). iTunes would see the sale of full albums increase due to the ability for the iSlate to display multimedia extras bundled in full album purchases only. Also the possibility of this devices reading capabilities is fairly exciting as well. While the Kindle can download and display books and magazines look for Apple to take those capabilities to a whole other level—in color! ( image unconfirmed )

Official announcement possibly Jan 27th, 2010

Robots On Catwalk, These Models Won’t Gain Weight

August 23, 2009 fashion, tech Comments Off

The HRP-4C robot. The girlie-faced humanoid with slightly oversized eyes, a tiny nose and a shoulder length hair-do boasts 42 motion motors programmed to mimic the movements of flesh-and-blood fashion models. At just over 5 feet tall and 95 pounds in weight, she’s still thin enough to guilt teenage girls everywhere into puking up their lunches. And the manga-inspired face, with a tiny nose and large eyes, should keep the plastic surgery market afloat in even the most dire economic climate. Unlike modern models, however, the HRP-4C walks down the runway with constantly bent knees and it fully capable of smiling. In case you are looking for an HRP-4C of your own, a similar model will cost you $3 million dollars.

What’s next? Cheaper knock-offs peddled in alley ways? Jail-breaking your robots’ proprietary software so you can install the iDate app—only to have your robot reject you and run off with your refrigerator? Only time will tell.
